About Us

Referral Process

St John of God University Hospital accepts referrals from across the country, ensuring admissions are in line with the Mental Health Act 2001 and professional guidelines. Referrals for emergency or elective admissions must be made by a GP, another hospital's medical staff, or a consultant. While we do not have a walk-in assessment unit, we work with major insurers including VHI, Laya, Aviva/Irish Life Health, and more.

Our expert multidisciplinary teams support individuals experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.

We also deliver specialist programmes in areas including Eating Disorders, Addiction, Psychiatry of Later Life, and Adolescent Mental Health, alongside unique services.
