Chaplaincy Services

Chaplaincy Services at St John of Gods

At St John of God Hospital, we prioritize the holistic care of our patients, recognizing that spiritual support is essential to the healing process. Our chaplaincy services are designed to cater to the diverse spiritual and religious needs of our community, ensuring that every patient receives compassionate and respectful care.

Catholic Chaplaincy Services

We are proud to offer dedicated Catholic chaplaincy services through our resident Catholic Chaplains. Available daily, our chaplains provide spiritual guidance, sacraments, and support to Catholic patients and their families. Whether you are seeking prayer, confession, or the Eucharist, our chaplaincy team is here to assist in your spiritual journey during your stay at St John of God Hospital.

Ecumenical and Interfaith Chaplaincy Support

Understanding the rich diversity of faiths among our patients, we offer ecumenical and interfaith chaplaincy services to meet the needs of all religious denominations. Arrangements can be made for patients to be visited by their own clergy or spiritual leaders. We have established strong partnerships with local religious communities, including St Brigid’s Church (Church of Ireland), located just 100 meters from our hospital entrance.

Clergy from St Brigid’s Church frequently provide chaplaincy support and spiritual care to Anglican patients. For more information, St Brigid’s Rectory can be reached at 01-288 1091.

Hospital Chapel and Mass Times

Our hospital chapel offers a peaceful sanctuary for prayer, reflection, and spiritual solace for all patients, staff, and visitors. The chapel is central to our chaplaincy services, hosting daily Mass at St John of God Hospital:

  • Monday to Friday: 5:00 pm

  • Saturday: 10:00 am

  • Sunday: 10:00 am

For those unable to attend in person, Sunday Mass is provided in the wards, ensuring that every patient has the opportunity to participate in the spiritual life of the hospital.
